3 weeks down, 3 to go

Yesterday I finished my first pack on BCP. Tonight I'll be starting the second pack (skipping my period...darn) and then towards the end of that pack I'll have my ultrasound to check on the demon cyst. 19 more days. I can do this.

FedEx dropped off my meds today. $700 worth. All that money and I got was 30 progesterone suppositories, one tiny vial of 600iu Follistim w/the dialer pen and one pre-filled shot of Ovidrel. I feel jipped...lol.

So here I sit and wait some more.

Also, Delaware folks, if you or anyone you know works for a company that either pays for IVF completely or pays a certain amount towards IVF can you let me know. Our benefits don't and won't cover IVF so we are looking at other options.

Yea, and I'm at 182 books for the year and its making me irrationally angry I probably won't make it to 200. But I guess I can't complain since I set my goal at 100...lol.

you know that feeling when something finally goes right? yea, me either

Today I was scheduled for my injectables class at the RE office but they actually scheduled me for a follow up ultrasound to check on the cyst too since I was there.

Well, let me introduce you to my cyst.

one cyst...3 diff pics of it

This thing has not gone away. It actually got a little bigger though the doctor said not to worry too much about that. She said while it did get a little longer it did get a bit shorter so in actuality its not as bad as it seemed like it was when we saw it on the screen. The nurse mentioned possibly having the doctor do surgery to remove it and it was freaking me out all day.

The doctor called with a plan. She isn't rushing me off to surgery (yet). She said she wants me to continue birth control pills for a continuous 4 more weeks (skipping my period). She is going to bring me in on December 9th to have an ultrasound done by her. If the ultrasound looks good and the cyst has gone down, we will do the injectables and iui. If not, she said we will sit down and discuss whether or not to go into surgery or give it more time.

So, we wait.

Also, today my pharmacy called about my injectables. They said insurance covered none of my meds. Not surprised. Total for one injectables cycle of follistim, ovidrel and progesterone....$695.50. Someone hold me. This is the reason we are selling off all Nate's baby stuff. This shit is not cheap. Sigh. Lets hope it'll be worth the money in the end.

A bit of good news and a plan!

So...so...so...

Mike and I met with Dr. Bachman today to discuss all the results from this months testing and make a plan going forward.

First thing she mentioned is my AHM level. It came back at 2.0 which is good. AMH is a test that checks for ovarian reserve so we expected this result to be worse than it did. She said that 2.0 is low for my age but its a number we can work with. It shows that I do have eggs left and they should be good quality. With my FSH being high I, as well as the doctor, expected the AMH to come back low (the lower the number the worse the ovarian reserve is) but the number was a nice shocking surprise. Finally, a year later and a piece of good information.

She said they tested my prolactin twice and both times it was tested it was low....6.9 and 5.7. So that means the Dostinex is working and I won't need to up my dosage. WHOOP!

We talked about my tube issues and what that means going forward. She brought up my LAP surgery. I asked her to go over what Dr. Russell wrote in his report since we kept getting conflicting stories. Well what he wrote in the report is the exact opposite of what he told us. My tubes were not twisted like he originally told Mike. In fact they were stuck to the sides of my body. Right tube stuck to right side of body and left tube stuck to left side of body. Also, the fact that I had 2 incision sites was because the first site wouldn't stop bleeding so he needed to close it and use a new site. He mentioned using dye to clear tubes and fixing cilia and also cleaning out scar tissue. So that part was true to what he told us. She printed out a copy of his report for me to bring home. I love her and how she knows I love having my results in hand.

Anyway, with that being said it looks like one tube is probably re-stuck or something since its blocked again. Dr. Bachman also mentioned that just bc the other tube is open doesn't mean it is healthy. We knew that as well but its a good reminder. She asked me if I wanted to do another HSG. The HSG they do is with dye and an x-ray so the results are clearer but with the end the year coming to a close and us only being fully covered deductible wise until December 31st I told her that I didn't think it was necessary. She agreed.

While in the office I asked the Doctor what side my cyst is on because over the past few days I have been having pretty bad pain. When she said it was the right side I knew the cyst was still there. She asked me to stay and do another ultrasound to check on the cyst and I agreed. She said she wanted to make sure it didn't cause my ovary to twist. We ended up heading to the IVF Surgery room for the ultrasound. Eeekk! Status of my cyst is: STILLSOFUCKINGHUGE. Actually, it went from 33mm to 48mm. Yes, its getting bigger. WTeverlovingF?! I just can't win. The nurse told me to watch myself and no lifting or twisting or bending bc if this things ruptures it won't be pretty.

So whats the plan you say?
*IF* I can get this cyst to go away in the next few weeks with the birth control than we will proceed with one more IUI cycle. The doctor wants me to call on CD1 and she personally would like to see me for the ultrasound. If the cyst is gone than we are going to do one injectible IUI cycle with 50iU Follistim. I go next Tuesday for an information session about how to inject myself with the needle.
Of course if the cyst is still there we will hold off on all treatment until the new year when we will be doing IVF. Dr Bachman said that with the good AMH results and the fact that I respond well to fertility meds I should stimulate and produce a good amount of follicle/eggs if we have to go thus route.

So if you're the praying type could you say a few prayers for this cyst to go away and a positive treatment in the near future. If you're not the praying type, if you could send me some good thoughts and a bit of luck I'd really appreciate it.

Oh and if anyone knows any natural remedies to get rid of this cyst...I'm all ears.
