8 Weeks

How far along? 8 Weeks

The baby is the size of a.....
Raspberry

Total weight gain/loss? +2-3lbs

Maternity clothes? If I have to wear jeans, then yes I break out my awesome maternity jeans...other than that I'm still living in yoga pants, dresses and skirts.

Stretch marks? Nothing new

Sleep? Wish it was better. Not sleeping well lately for various reasons (hunger, nausea, upset stomach, etc). Will be investing in Unisom soon.

Best moment this week? Seeing our baby at the u/s last Thursday with it's heart fluttering away on the screen

Miss Anything? A cold beer outside while the sun goes down

Movement? Just my gas...lol

Food cravings? YES...everything. Seriously, I am eating everything in sight.

Anything making you queasy or sick? Hotdogs and watermelon so far.

Have you started to show yet? Baby? No. Bloat? Yes. Being 4'11 with no torso makes bloating look much further along than I am.

Gender? No idea

Labor Signs? No

Belly Button in or out? In

Wedding rings on or off? On

Happy or Moody most of the time? I'd say 50/50. Dealing with a demanding and smart mouthed 4 year old tests my patience but I think other than that I am pretty ok for the most part.

Looking forward to? Nate's 4th birthday tomorrow. FOUR YEARS OLD!!! Then on Friday we all get to go into the RE office as a family for my ultrasound.

Upcoming Appointments? Next u/s at the RE office is Friday

Other ramblings and musings: Tired...exhausted. Was going to write more but got too tired...lol.

8 Weeks with baby #2 vs Baby #1

Asskicker is growing strong!

I see you all look for an update so I am here to back-fill the past couple weeks.

So let's see....
Well betas went like this:
10dp5dt - 724
12dp5dt - 1561
14dp5dt - 2665
16dp5dt - greater than 5500

On Wednesday may 28th I was told to come into the office for my first ultrasound. EEeepp!! It was my understanding that with my hcg being as high as it was we should see a sac and yolk sac at this point. When the tech did the u/s nothing could be seen. My heart broke. The nurse said that since we saw nothing in my uterus that it was probably ectopic and began checking out my tubes for the sac. She was unable to find any sac anywhere and told me I needed to come back the next day so that the doc could take a look and make a diagnosis.

After a VERY long 24+ hours Thursday's appt rolled around. I met with the doc in a new exam room with a diff u/s machine. She put the probe in and the sac showed right up. I sat there in awe that my baby was right where it was supposed to be. The yolk sac was measuring right on point for where I was gestationally. The doc apologized for bringing me in the day before saying that it was too early and caused unnecessary stress.

My next appt was today. They will be weekly until I graduate from the RE. I was back in the original room with the first u/s machine and despite my feelings of hatred toward it I wasn't going to discriminate against this inanimate object.

Well, I should have. The nurse puts the probe in and immediately sees my sac. Yay! But wait, there is nothing inside it. She tries to console me by saying its probably too early for a yolk sac. I told her one was there last week on the other machine. She told me to sit tight. She was going to check the other machine and try and get me scanned in that room.

Once the room was unoccupied Mike and I moved our belongings into the new room and I got set up to be scanned again. She put the probe in me and HELLO BEAUTIFUL BABY WITH HEARTBEAT!!! Yes, thats how different these 2 machines were. The first machine showed nothing in my sac while this one not only showed the sac, but the yolk sac and baby with a heart flicker.

They were appalled at the difference. The nurse just kept saying how awful she felt that I was being told all these negative things bc of the bad machine and how many other people they probably did the same thing to. She told me she was going to print out copies of my u/s from both machines and bring them to the docs to show them the difference.

They notated my account to make sure I *ONLY* get scanned in the rooms with the better machines as not to inflict anymore unneeded stress bc of a crappy machine.

Also, they put a new rule into place that they will not see the patient for an u/s before week 5 bc of what happened with me last week with the sac not there the one day but there the next.

So anyway, today I feel good. I feel blessed. I can't stop looking at my u/s pic of the baby I hope to be holding in my arms in the new year.

My first OB appt is next week. It'll be weird to finally be back at the OBs office. I'll probably have a few more weeks with the RE before they graduate me but I look forward to putting my infertility journey behind me.

I will never forget how I got here or how this experienced shaped me but I am hopeful for the future and for my complete family. I look forward to sharing my pregnancy experience for those of you willing to follow it through with me as I make the transition from infertile to pregnant infertile.
